Bold Type Books, a leading publisher of serious nonfiction, is seeking a full-time intern to work closely with our editors. The aim of the internship is to provide an immersive and rewarding apprenticeship in which the intern will learn the ropes of book publishing.

The internship will include:

  • Reading and evaluating proposals
  • Researching comp titles and sales figures
  • Researching organizations and individuals for marketing and publicity outreach
  • Attending author, editorial, production, publicity, marketing and sales meetings
  • Helping with our monthly newsletter
  • Drafting catalog, galley, jacket copy as well as blurb letters
  • Participating in training and mentorship in the editorial process
  • Performing administrative tasks (such as the occasional mailing) as necessary

The ideal candidate is interested in a long-term career in book publishing, an avid reader with a strong interest in nonfiction, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
