Type Investigations Announces a New Initiative for Incarcerated Reporters

The Inside/Out Journalism Project works with incarcerated reporters to produce feature-length investigations. The launch was amplified by industry leaders across the country including Columbia Journalism Review, Nieman Lab, and Reuters Institute. The initiative will produce rigorous investigative coverage of the criminal legal system in the coming year from a vantage point not typically represented in mainstream media.

The Puffin Prize for Creative Citizenship

The Puffin Foundation, Ltd. and Type Media Center are now accepting nominations for the 2022 Puffin Prize for Creative Citizenship, a $100,000 award given to an individual or organization that challenges the status quo through courageous, distinctive, and socially responsible work. Nominations are due by September 12, 2022.

Don and Doris Shaffer Research Fellowship 2022-2023

We are looking for an entry-level researcher and fact-checker with a deep interest in investigative journalism. Our fellowship offers rigorous training in key investigative skills, with many opportunities for mentorship and special projects tailored to the interests of the fellow.

In Memoriam-Perry Rosenstein

We warmly remember Perry Rosenstein, Founder and President of the Puffin Foundation, Ltd. Rosenstein was a life-long supporter of a diverse group of writers, artists, journalists, and intellectuals outside of the mainstream. Perry passed away on April 3rd, 2020 in Teaneck, New Jersey.
